My favorite class in school was art. When a friend in my high school art class told me there was a degree you could get in “Graphic Design” I knew it was the exact direction I wanted to go. I went to Johnson County Community College in KC and it was the perfect fit for me. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone interested in studying graphic design!
During Graphic Design school I got HITCHED to the man of my dreams! Our wedding day stationery was where it all started for me! I designed the save the dates, the invites, programs and table tents at the reception. It was beautiful! A few months later a friend asked me to make her wedding invitations, so of course I said yes! Then another, and another and that’s how Kooser Design was created.
While designing wedding invitations, and learning the ropes in owning and working a business, I was lucky to land an internship at a company called Mr. and Mrs. It was a three month non-paying internship, but it was the best experience for me to see how the whole wedding production really worked. I got to help out with the coordination of two huge weddings and then my internship was over. I had a new obsession and I wasn’t stopping there. I jumped on an opportunity and booked my first wedding coordination as an add-on service to my stationery design business. Then I booked another and another. I just went for it and to be honest I did a lot of learning on the job! Over time I’ve learned that I enjoyed the Wedding coordination portion of my business best and it made more business sense to focus on the coordination aspect of my wedding consulting business. So, my first love of wedding stationery design has been retired. I’m so grateful for this business. It has allowed me to meet so many great people and be a small part of making their special day run smoothly. At Kooser Design, Your Special Day is Our Business!
I’ve now coordinated over 50 weddings and still enjoy every single one!
