This event was such a fun experience!! I was chosen to style this beautiful home for a Home Design Contest that supported Habitat for Humanity! This house was way out of my comfort zone. I had never designed anything like it before, but I definitely fell in love with it and learned a lot!
I loved being creative and painted a few of the pieces you see in the home. 1) The purple and gold painting in the entry way, 2) The collage canvases above the bed and 3) The tree painting in the master bathroom.
I was also able to show off my floral design skills with my arrangement on the dining room table (obsessed with the artichokes), as well as my graphic design skills with the wall collage in the living room!
We were given $1,500 to use to fill the space as well as 80 pieces from their inventory of staging items. I shopped at places like Ikea, At Home, Tuesday Morning and even the Dollar Store!!
I want to give a special thank you to Annette Stahl. She helped coach me during this process. The house I styled wasn’t just any other house to her. Annette created this home in memory of a very special person in her life. Knowing this going in, I knew I had to make it special. Designing this space wasn’t about winning the contest for me, my bigger priority was to make sure Annette loved the end result.
The wall collage in the living room was my favorite part of the home, bringing in the pictures of the trees and the quote “Be Like a Tree” was the emotional and heart warming touch this space needed. Annette ended up loving the space! ???? ????
“Be Like A Tree.
Stay grounded.
Connect with your roots.
Turn over a new leaf.
Bend before you break.
Enjoy your unique natural beauty.”
