I’m an acne girl! I’ve had acne since I was 13 years old. Growing up with acne in high school, college and even late twenties can make someone’s self confidence level very low, like it did to me. I never put myself out there, because I was always worried people were looking at my nasty skin. It was so bad, sometimes I wouldn’t even leave the house if I had a bad break out, or a pimple that I couldn’t cover up with foundation. I went to so many dermatologists and they would put me on a cream or medicine, and then birth control just to help my acne. Then even if I used one of the creams my face would get red, dry and start peeling. I couldn’t win!
I finally came across a product that I trusted. The doctors who created Proactiv have a new skincare line called Rodan and Fields. They now have skincare for all skin types and have updated their acne line! On another post you can learn all about my business journey with that company, but here I’m going to talk about my skin.
I remember the day when I found these products for the first time. I was working a bridal show booth for my wedding business. At those events I like to walk around and meet everyone and at one of the booths were a few ladies from Wichita, Kansas. I still have no idea why they came from Wichita (3 hours away) for this small bridal show. They told me about these Rodan & Fields products and I honestly wasn’t even listening that close, because I didn’t really have the energy to pretend that I cared about what they were selling, because I was busy and knew I didn’t need anything else to deal with.
Then I heard a name that I recognized. Proactiv. Proactiv is a global acne brand and I used to use back in high school. The fact that it was from those doctors made it seem more legit and made me pay more attention. I immediately realized we were talking about skincare and these random ladies were probably staring at the huge pimple I had on my chin. (It was one of those that needed to be popped, but if you did it would start bleeding! ?)
I wanted more information, so they gave me some samples, a price guide and said that this could be a good business to look into as well. During the rest of the bridal show, I wanted to cry, because I thought these products were too expensive and I was going to have acne forever. (I know, dramatic right).
Two weeks after that show I signed up for the business. At this time of my life I was working full time at 94.5 Country Radio and doing my wedding business on the side. I grabbed $1,000 from my wedding business account and bought the biggest business kit they had! I wanted to try everything! Also, I knew I was getting the product at the cheapest price possible, which made me feel better about spending the money. My husband of course rolled his eyes and thought I was crazy to add something else to my plate, but he trusted me and knew that they had a 60 day empty bottle money back guarantee with the products and business kits!
I started on the Unblemish line, which cleared my acne right up! To be honest, I felt like it got a little worse before it got better, but I kept at it. To think if I hadn’t found these products, I’d still be wearing foundation every time I left the house. I’d be nervous to go to the pool because my make might come off, dreading having my husband see me with no makeup on at night, having anxiety about what people thought about my skin, trying to be professional when my clients thought I was 20 years old because of my acne, fearing my future children would suffer with acne too because I know it’s genetic. (thanks mom and dad).
I’m so thankful for these doctors and what they have done for my skin and all of my wonderful customers skin! If you haven’t tried it out yet, you should definitely take a look, and I’ll tell you that having self confidence is worth every penny!
